Welcome to EZ-Realty.net "Sandbox" Try Out Site

Come play in the Sandbox!

This is the EZ-Realty.net "Sandbox" web site, where you can look at available themes, try out modules and blocks. If you do not currently have an EZ-Realty-net site, you can use this site to see how the site overall works before you sign up for EZ-Realty. If you are a current EZ-Realty.net client you can use this site to try things out without messing up your existing site.

The contents of this site will be 'reset' to it's original form every night at approximately 3AM Pacific Time. Please use accordingly.

If you would like to test Administrative functions, please login with username: admin with password admin.
If you would like to test Registered User functions, create your own account or log in as usernameIamUser with password IamUser(case sensitive).

Each of the menu links listed have the name of the "module" used in parentheses, to help you know what module does what.

You can easily view all the themes available on this site by logging in and using the "ThemeChanger" that will appear in the upper right after you log in.

Lastly, this is by no means to be considered a "Showcase" site; there's far too many options installed for it to be at all organized attractively.

Enjoy yourself! Don't worry about messing anything up, that's what it's here for.

About this web site

Thank You

Ez-Realty.net would like to thank you for your interest in our web site system and for doing business with us. We believe that our system is the best solution available for managing your real estate business, but recognize that no matter how good it is, customer service is the most important thing we have to offer. We will strive to provide you with the best available.

If you have any comments regarding our system, supplied documentation, service or pricing we want to hear it. It is often our customers who come up with the best ideas for improvement.

We hope you get a lot out of this site. It does take a little while to get through the initial setup, but the payoff is in being able to easily and quickly manage your site whenever you want, from any computer, even when you only have a few moments available. This will enable you to communicate to your customers and visitors your active real estate practice while building loyalty and respect. But enjoy it! It's fun and easy.

What is this thing?

It's a web site content management system that allows a regular person with little or no web site skills to manage the content of a web site using just a regular web browser. Most of you looking at this site will be familiar with the concept of managing real estate listings using a 'script' on your web site. This is where you simply fill in the blanks for the property address, price, features, select an image file to upload, etc. This site takes that concept to an exponentially higher level. The entire site content is managed by “filling in the blanks”, so to speak. No web design software was used at all. Everything is added and controlled through web browsers. It doesn't matter where you work because everything you need, everything you add, is stored on web browsers and databases on our server. The only thing you can't do from the browser is upload some images for a few kinds of content that doesn't change often.

What does it do?

In short, it does just about anything you want. Specifically, the core functionality of this system includes:

  • A user account system with security and permissions, meaning that you can enable some of your clients to see content that anonymous web surfer's can't;
  • A 'theme' system which controls the look of the content (colors, graphics, etc.);
  • Multi language capabilities; translation work is needed, but once done it displays content according to the language preferences of the web surfer;
  • Real Estate Listings management;
  • “News” system, where by you can publish news about your business such as new listings, sales, open houses, or any other topic you like;
  • Mixed text and image content management for creating pages like what you're reading now;
  • Form creation system, to create info requests or feedback pages;
  • Business calendar;
  • Topical Mailing list manager – both public and private mailing lists; web surfers can sign themselves up for the public lists;
  • Real Estate Dictionary;
  • “Large Content” publisher, which can handle large documents best divided into chapters, topics, etc.;
  • Frequently Asked Questions system, where your clients can submit questions;
  • Photo gallery;
  • Guestbook;
  • Local weather info;
  • Link database, which allows web surfers to add links to your site;
  • Online discussion forum;
  • Autolinks – automatically creates links on keywords to other pages or web sites;
  • A banner advertisement management system - lets your favorite affiliates put their banners on your site, tracks clickthroughs;
  • “This day in history” database;
  • Polls to find out things about your visitors;
  • Automatic referrer tracking to find out how visitors are getting to your site;
  • Quote of the day;
  • “Recommend Me” page – allows a web surfer to send a message to someone else linking your site;
  • Basic stats, giving you total page views, operating systems and browsers used, etc.;
  • File downloads, if you have documents or programs to distribute;
  • Automatic Meta Keywords generated from News articles; keeps your search engine results up to date;
  • Industry News links, showing links to external news articles relating to Real Estate (or just about anything else you want).

Plus there are a number of functions that are somewhat functional now, but still need work:
  • Web Based email;
  • Shopping Cart;
  • Electronic post card system;
  • Classified ads;
  • Yahoo – like web directories;
  • Project Management;
  • Save any page on the site as an Adobe Acrobat pdf file;
  • “Jobs available here” listings;
  • “New site info” mailing lists – for example, it would automatically could the new real estate listings on the site and send an email saying”there are 5 new listings this month” and provide links to them;
  • Restaurant & Wine reviews;
  • Yellowpages database for related companies such as inspectors, movers, etc.;
  • Private “intranet”, to allow specific users to share documents; you might use this to collaborate on a new contract or something;
  • Site subscription service, where a visitor would be required to pay something to access some portion of the web site.

Is this a custom site, or a template?

Well, it's neither really. It's better to think of it as a software application that runs inside of a web browser. In that sense, each web site gets the same thing, just like every user of Microsoft Word gets the same thing. But there are so many different kinds of content available that each site would likely be very different from the next, just as you can create many different kinds of documents with Word. Each owner of an EZ-Realty.net site will choose to provide different kinds of content and documents than another owser. The theme system also allows each site to look different than another. When you register and log in to this site, you'll notice a “Themechanger” selector in the upper left hand corner. You can easly select another theme there, and see for yourself how different the site looks with a different theme. Custom themes can be developed quickly.

There's really no html or web site skills required?

Really, no. Adding information to the site is handled simply by entering text into fields, selecting options, and pushing buttons. For example in writing this paragraph, the heading above was entered into a field labelled “subtitle 5” and the words of this paragraph itself into “text 5”. An image could have been selected to appear with this paragraph; it would have been uploaded automatically. Now, you can use html formatting if you want to – for example if you want some text to be bold you can enclose the words in the html bold tags (< b>text< / b>) but it is entirely optional. The features lists above were formatted using html list tags. Some of the content administration includes WYSIWYG editors for easier inclusion of html tags, but they are optional and only work in Internet Explorer.

Get Started

There is a "Getting Started" link just below the link for this document above; it is a complete step-by-step guide to getting your EZ-Realty.net site up and running. It is simple and easy to follow, explaining how things work and features of the system as you go along. We recommend that you skim it briefly to get an overview of the system, then sit down and work through it when you have an uninterrupted block of time. You can print it if you want to.

You are welcome to ask questions as you go. There are a number of support options available at our support site, most of which are free. The most effective option is probably joining the user's mailing list, where you can send a question and receive responses from both us and other users any time of day (and sometimes night). An archive of past messages is available as well; this can be very helpful since most questions asked have been answered before.

Thanks Again!
